need help on a tarantula and a praying mantis?
iv got a colbalt blue tarantula and my research has told me there burrowers but my 1 is stick in the top corner of its tank iv got the humidity over 80% and 4ins of soil for it but it just sits in the corner …… My Praying Mantis problem is that its only 1 month old iv feed it a baby brown cricket but when i tryed to feed it a baby locuts as soon as it went up to it it jumps and my mantis just runs away its done this 3 times now … Iv only had these 2 animals less than a week now

The cobalt blue just hasn’t gotten around to digging a tunnel yet. I wouldn’t disturb it at all if you can help it, put it in a quiet place and leave it alone till it constructs one. Cobalts are very, very shy. Mine spends just about all of it’s time sitting right at the mouth of it’s burrow so that it can run into it at a moment’s notice. They construct a tunnel, but, they have a turret that goes above ground level. Mine constructed his right in the corner and then turret extends almost to the top of the enclosure.
Now, it also may not tunnel because it as an adult male. If it’s an adult male, all it will do is look around for a female, refuse to eat and eventually die. Cobalt males only live a year or two past their molt into adulthood. It is very hard to tell the sex of a tarantula, the only reliable way is from the inside of a molt. If yours is an adult male, it will never molt again..
A lot of dealers sell adult males to pet shops to pawn off on the unsuspecting public. If you paid less then $50 for it, then I wouldn’t be too concerned that you got ripped off and would just learn from the experience if it does turn out to be a male that doesn’t eat.
It sounds like you’re catching insects from outside to feed them. That’s probably not the best thing to do as you don’t know if they’ve been exposed to any pesticides. I wouldn’t feed locusts to a baby praying mantis. I have adult tarantulas that would have problems catching one of them too..
Though, you could always just prekill it. Baby tarantulas and mantises will frequently eat prey that is already dead. Crushing the head with a pair of forceps after chilling it in the fridge is probably about the easiest way..

the praying mantis when u feed it take the locus or crickets put in the fridge for about 5 or 10 minutes and after that pull the back legs off and give it to the mantis

we had a colbolt blue and it never burrowed it was called bad a$$ billy as it was the most bad tempered spider we have ever had we kept him in room temp just with our heating he hated my dad for some reason, we fed him a cricket every two days with water in a dish with a sponge and sprayed him daily but he was quite happy for 4 years until we donated him to a reptile park he was quite active all the time and made the most wonderful web tunnel we kept him on soil with no problems maybe you have the humidity too high for him, we have a praying mantis at the moment (tinks) she is happy in her tank and shed regularly once again she is kept at room temp and eats every two day with one cricket, she comes to use when we open the tank and is quite happy she has learnt that open tank means food, i do not know why your mantis is so jumpy as we do not have a problem, try feeding yours a normal sized cricket we have tried locus and ours is no problem, we have had her for a month, maybe the locus is too big for yours and it is scared of pray that is too big, try a normal size cricket the pray may be too lively for it

At first I read Aroslina as aero-lee-nuh and though it was beautiful, but the pronunciation you picked and the name Jolene make it too much of a mouthful. I do love Jolene though and think it would make a beautiful first name. I don’t like the second name at all, sorry. I’m not a big fan of "crystal" names, and I don’t like Tuesday…

Question about movie scene in Insanitarium (cat scene)?
Okay, now don’t analyze me for being comfortable with human torture over animal torture, blahblahblah.

Yeah, I don’t have a problem with watching the human gore in the movie. But I found out that there is a scene in the movie where a cat gets its head ripped off. I really, really don’t want to watch that scene. It hits too close to home.

omg i watched this movie the other day and that was def the worst part of it especially for me, a cat lover and vegetarian ha ha. Well i don’t know exactly how far in it is but you Will know its coming up because when all of the "patients" are outside the main character Jack is taking to his friend and this guy comes over and says something like look at this cat i found… then when that happens just look away for a while lol. It’s a weird movie !
